Landcare fire relief Support information.
Many farmers in our catchment have been impacted by the bushfires & need help. The WesternPort Catchment Landcare Network would like to coordinate teams of three to four people to go to fire affected areas in Labertouche, Jindivick, Drouin West and Tonimbuk to assist with fencing and other on ground efforts. Take the Hilda Falls Express Sat June 13th 1.00—3.30pm
Hilda Falls is situated about 2km from Loch on the Allsop Creek. It runs alongside the railway line and includes about 8 hectares of remnant wet forest. The Falls are a series of sandstone tables and small rock pools; 200 metres away a gully joins the creek with a 20m rock fall which is quite spectacular when it runs. The Falls were a popular destination in times gone by and some old photos can be viewed in the Loch Post Office and Memorial Hall. Train departs Korumburra 12.15pm, Nyora - 1pm, Loch - 1:15pm Returns to Loch 3:15pm Nyora 3:30 pm, Korumburra - 4:10pm Afternoon Tea is provided and a new sign will be unveiled at the Falls. Bookings are essential RSVP June 3rd, Sturdy Footwear recommended.
Strzelecki Sustainable Productive Pasture Trial (SSPP) FARM Open Day
The project is designed to replace current drought affected pasture species with the introduction of more productive species (Phalaris & Cocksfoot) that will withstand future dry periods and higher temperatures on the north facing slopes. Understanding associated establishment and maintenance methods of these pastures.
