Community Action Grants
Community Action Grants provide funding for community-based projects to help manage and protect the environment and natural resources. Community Action Grants are an element of Caring for our Country - an initiative of the Australian Government. The 2010-11 Community Action Grants round will provide funding for a broad range of activities that will contribute to Caring for our Country national priorities. Grants are from $5,000 - $20,000. All applications must be submitted by 5pm EST Tuesday 31 August 2010.

covering - Application form – what does it all means and how do you fill it in?
- Guidelines – what do they mean?
- Previous successful applications – what can we learn from?
- Helpful hints in filling out the application form etc
- Exchange of ideas for possible projects etc

Fish Creek Landcare Event
Wednesday July 21st (7.30 pm in the Oberon Room, Fishy Pub, 6pm for dinner optional)
- REPTILES, their place and importance in our environment. Presenter: Colin Silvey, Melbourne Museum Colin grew up between Foster and Fish Creek with his pet snakes and has proceeded to make a career utilizing his passion for reptiles. Currently he works in the live exhibits department of the Melbourne museum Colin will give an informal presentation of: REPTILES, their place and importance in our environment: Origin and evolution, Venom ecology and properties (simple version), snakebite-treatment and facts, local snake/reptile species and ecology-snakes role in the ecosystem and conservation. Everyone (members, non members) welcome.

Help for tree planting
- The Mirboo North Secondary Cadets are available to help landholders with tree planting and other environmental activities. They are available between 9.00 am and 1.30pm each Friday in terms 3 and 4. The first Friday will be the 16th of July. They are willing to travel to local sites for tree planting or any other working bee activities every second Friday. There will be 20 students in the group. They usually have a barbecue after the work is done but can discuss details with the group/ individual they work with. If you need some help – please contact Allen Riseley on 0418 180 599.
