This integrated program is designed to offer landholders and land managers the opportunity to get rid of their Boxthorn and Gorse while suppressing rabbit and fox numbers. 

It's well known that rabbits cause much damage to pasture and native vegetation by suppressing the growth of new plantations and if left unchecked can cause extensive damage to pasture, particularly that around areas of suitable harbour. 

Boxthorn and Gorse are not only noxious weeds but also provide this harbour for foxes and rabbits, indeed, with such accomodation, many rabbits don't even bother digging warrens!  Foxes are also a huge issue for both livestock and native animals, particularly for newborn calves and lambs.  Again, foxes use the spiny protection of Boxthorn and Gorse plants to aid in their survival, reproduction and ultimate success in our landscapes.

To assist you in the removal of these invasive pests, YYLN will fund up to half of your costs to remove Boxthorn and Gorse (inc' herbicide) and while we cannot cover the costs of pesticides such as 1080 or Pindone, we can offer advice and mecahnical removal of fox and rabbit harbour and warrens / dens. 

We are concious of the fact that removal of Boxthorn reduces the amount of habitat for small birds such as wrens and finches, and in some cases can mean a loss of shelter for stock.  As such we can also help supply you with native vegetation to assist in the replacement of this habitat and shelter. Our funding extends to the end of 2009 calendar year so get in quickly before it's all gone.
